Our #summerofimpact series continues this month, with a focus on education in Philadelphia. Rock 2 the Future – a non-profit organization who uses music education to under-served youth at no cost to their families. Using contemporary music lessons and workshops, Rock 2 the Future programs support academic achievement, improve self-esteem, and ignite passion in the hearts of these young rock stars.
In the summer camp programs of July, these students are learning the basics of song writing, encouraging creativity and working in a team.
Founding Executive Director Jessica Craft, left a financial service job to start Rock 2 the Future in 2010 – after being awarded The Turning Point Prize from Women in Social Innovation.
Here, Cameron leads 7 – 10 year olds in song, with “Wake me Up” by Avicii. Using modern and contemporary music, students stay engaged and learn chorals with the lyrics.
